Reflecting

Gazing forward, at what stood behind her. She considered the playfulness of physics. The direction of life. She spent a moment reflecting on the beauty that was behind her.

The eye of the needle

It was fall, I hadn’t seen you for awhile. It was fall, it was like no time had passed. You came over with frozen drinks and a big blanket. We walked Winnie over to Wash Park, and set up a spot looking out over the lake. We caught each other up with all of the things filling our daily lives… laughed, and made plans for the future. We always were making plans, we had big dreams, and many places to see. There were high-schoolers drinking under the street lights just up the hill.. and when flashing lights came to disperse them, we laughed- as it was all quite familiar to our past. And just as we came, we went. We sat at my house for a while and talked, then I hugged you goodbye and replied I love you too. Then you went.

I wish I could remember that night more clearly, it was our last night together. Even though some of the details are faded, I cannot deny the feeling it gave me to be with you, and that’s what I remember most about that night.

Deserted beauty

Living, just to keep living- never realizing how fast life was passing her by. Seasons came and went. Blowing clouds, drifting to a dead end. Abandoned like a ghost town, she was a skeleton of what she once was. Broken and rusty where she used to be colorful and spirited. Desolate, but stubborn as the old rusty chains that bound her to the only ways she knew. She yearned for the life that once surrounded her, and fulfilled her. Nothing but time and space. Pausing, taking a breath, she appreciated her beauty, and the life that still grew around her decayed being.

The rising anchor

The days began to get longer and the sun was shining brighter, but she was still floundering like a fish.. she was sailing in the Bermuda Triangle. It was as though her anchor was stuck down. There was an uncertainty that demanded an escape, an escape far off into the distance. She needed to set sail. An adventure to a place where there was no fear, no evilness, a place itself of uncertainty. It was merely a place. A place that allowed her soul to dance freely, and her feet to wander bare. It was a place where laughter and happiness were as plentiful as the grains of sand amongst the shore. Where ice-cream shops lined the streets, flowers blossomed brightly, and everything had a sunny pastel hue. It was merely a place, but for her it might as well have been the land of milk and honey. It was her happy place. And for the first time in a long time she was certain, she was ready to put her anchor down and stay awhile.

You want me down on earth, but I am up in space

You cry, but it’s as though we always cheered- I am dancing amongst the stars. I am the milky way. Don’t doubt it, darling. I am the beauty, the laughter, the joy of everyday. For I am what I was destined to be.. I am an angel of the heavens. Bouncing.. hopping… galavanting from cloud to cloud. You cannot see me, but I am here. Forever dancing amongst the stars, the kind of forever that never sets. Don’t cry, for now I am dancing.

Uncovering our naked souls

On a journey, down a sandy path of memories. Sitting on top of the world, thinking about how I want more. The world isn’t big enough. Starring down at my legs wondering when they will carry me to the other side. Surrounded by the comforts of the ocean.. waves caressing the shore, splashing against my legs reminding me I’m here.. squishing my toes through the sand and listening to the melody of the water. Legs extending like sunbeams, as my mind drifts to another dimension, a place without the fake smiles, a place without the pain– I don’t want to leave you.. come with me, the undertow will carry us out.
